Absolutely gutted... Got a new 3070 fitted tonight after months of trying and get absolutely nothing on screen.

Turn system on, seems to boot up OK (maybe into windows not sure), all the fans and stupid rgb lights come on but no signal.

Bit of a squeeze in my case but everything is connected, 2 x 8pins with 2 separate cables to psu and nothing. Old 1080 works fine with same cables.

2 potential issues...
1) my riser cable (phanteks premium) is only pci-e 3. 0 and cannot find a setting on asus x570-p prime to force it into pcie 3.0 mode.
2) I only have a standard hdmi cable not 2.1.... But I shouldn't need 2.1 cable right?

Have tried all the hdmi ports on back.

Any ideas guys? I've been at it 3 hours just to get the thing in there :D

Awesome I'll check that link thanks. Maybe can find a way to force bios to use pcie 3.0 but can't see it anywhere.

3070 is so damn big it won't even go into my mobo without me taking it out of the damn case which is NOT something I want to do if you saw my case :D

Some people have had problems with Ampere and risers. You should be able to get some kind of display with a standard HDMI cable.

Couple of people have had issues with getting a display signal with HDMI and Ampere cards though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtLFQXzM6Yo

Got 3 monitors here including TV I initially tried, even tried with display port on monitors and still nothing... I don't get what that guy did to get it working other than use a different monitor.

So how my monitor is not compatible with 3070 I don't get it? So weird...

My money is on the riser cable.

I think you really need to try it without even if it means taking the motherboard out of the case.

I believe there were issues with PCIe gen 4 and gen 3 compatibility on AMD boards, maybe try switching from gen 4 to gen 3 and see if that helps.

Ok so had to flash my mobo bios 3 times and almost bricked it

LESSON LEARNED - DON'T USE ASUS EZ UPDATE AS IT AIN'T EAZY :)

On last update, managed to get it up to like July 2020 and now have the option to force pci-e 3 gen and yeah works like a charm.

You guys rekkon I'm losing any performance on a 3070 on pcie 3? Would like to keep my HTPC case as spent ages modding it... Tall gpus won't even fit in there unless sideways with riser

Also after mobo update my cpu idle temps have dropped by like 10c which is weird

(now hover around 30c - 34c, before they used to go from 45c down to 35c then back up again every 10 seconds in a loop)

the different is negligible, you won't even notice it tbh.

If you want Gen4 to work, either get a pcie gen4 cable or just run without.

Glad you got it sorted mate.

As above, glad you got it working! As for the idle temps, did you happen to know what your CPU voltages where? Wonder if it's anything to do with PBO. Mine kinda still is the same, spikes causes voltages to spike which then causes temps to spike. Was running a locked 1.25voltage for a while but now use PBO -30 offset now. Temps are good now!

Not sure, I always keep a log of temps because wanted a before and after for my mods, but looked at wats rather than volts.

I did notice on the asus ai suite 3 that now (after new bios) "digi vrm +" is now disabled and wont let me enable it. Don't even know what that is (researched and looks quite complex) so not particularly worried about it but I guess that's maybe what it was.

I never used to be able to put my pc in sleep... Always used to just not want to wake up. Bit like it's owner. Wonder if that works now :D

Just peered inside my case and noticed my gpu has a damn TV on the side of it?

Anyone know how to turn this s**** off? Honestly what happened to gpus? Crystal casings that glow and now tvs?
Gotta download and run software in the background now to keep the TV and rainbow vomit off I guess? Would rather have those wats for overclocking. Dayum

It's a gigabyte aurous master 3070 if anyone wants to trade for a normal one I might be up for it esp if 3070ti or 3080! I mean come on who doesn't want a TV on their gpu

No trading outside MM.

Regarding the temps, I seem to recall some Ryzen X chips deliberately over-reported by 10C (I know this sounds weird, I can't remember the exact details but it was definitely a thing with people asking why their CPU was running so hot) maybe that feature has been rolled back by the BIOS update.
