I bought a 7700X from eBay a couple of weeks back that is refusing to play ball. When I put it in my B650 TUF Gaming Plus WiFi, it refuses to POST & the red CPU LED on the board is on permanently. The board is fine as it posts with a 7600 without any issue.

I picked up a MSI MAG X670E from the MM & with that, the behaviour is slightly different. The DRAM & CPU lights come on briefly but then disappear but I have no output on my monitor. I've tried the displayport from both the chip & the GPU, same result. Any ideas? I've had the CMOS battery out of both boards for ages so it's not a problem of old BIOS settings as far as I can make out.

sounds like a CPU issue if you have tried 2 boards and the same thing.

Have you confirmed that the MSI MAG X670E is working fine with another CPU?

Are the bios on both boards fully up to date?

Tried a 7600 in the X670E board last night & installed Windows on it without much hassle. I did also update the BIOS to the latest non-beta version but still no joy with the 7700X. If anything, my experience last night with the 7600 showed that the green boot LED should be on to tell me that it had nothing to boot from! The 7700X is definitely DOA & it's going back.

Yeah, confirming the board works with the 7600 I would have to agree.

Only thing in common in this is the CPU (7700x) so if it does not boot with that then its got to be dead.
