Dead 8800GTX - What to replace it with?

Its always tempting to get the best or to spend more money than you need but I try to buy what I must and then see if there are any further issues. So if you find the 4890 is being held back (which I will doubt if you just play L4D) then you could always upgrade the rest!

Keep us updated how that oven trick goes although watch out for fumes, I read that its possible that a small amount of toxic fumes can be given off, wouldnt want you to get hurt from my post!

Well I've just installed my 4890 and it's lovely! :D

I've only tried COD4 so far and I'm getting somewhere between 60/90 fps @ 1680x1050 with everything on full. I was expecting to push closer to 120fps but I'm guessing that's down to my Mobo not supporting PCI-E 2.0. The main thing is it's fast, stable and doesn't bluescreen. Plus now I know which way my upgrade path is going :D

Not baked my old GTX yet, that's a job for the weekend. but I will post pics and maybe a video depending on how well it goes.

I just want to thank you all for your good advice, I really appreciate it. Now for some serious gaming :D
