So today I have angered the pixies inside my pc.

All working fine been powered on about 10 mins. I decided to install icue and about 50% of the way in dead..

System freezes at cpu led. So tried a second cpu I have and now freezing at dram led.. tried a few sets of ram and nothing.

Tested my cpu and all the ram in sons pc all fine.. so I assume motherboard?
Anything else to test before buying a board ?

Bios battery or PSU. Remove GPU if one is fitted.

if you've swapped the cpu and it's stuck on dram led it may be memory training, leave it for a few mins
but yes, if cpu and ram working in other systems then the common denominator seems to be a dead mobo

I actually on the occasion have a spear psu in the house.. I’ll try that.

Bios as been reset, everything unplugged from the bard and still stuck on cpu with my 5700x3d. But passes to dram with a spear cpu but then just stuck on dram.

Not really, it as stopped working again. I was working fine out it all back in case and work again…

Went into bios set XMP and boom. Locked up again in the same way
I think it may be the cpu.
It came back to lift with a 3200g fitted. Put my 5700x3d back in and fine. Set xmp dead

CPUs going bad is quite rare compared to other PC components, let alone going intermittently bad. More likely to be memory or motherboard or an incompatibility between them.

Sorted it... PSU.

i have the same PSU in 500w and 750w model. when dumped it on the table i switched it out for the 500w to test that's when it started working.
without even thinking i switched back to the 750w when putting it back in the case. obviously what ever safety on the motherboard had reset and it worked for about 11mins.

i just pulled the PSU and refitted the 500w and it working again the second i swoped it over.

You're lucky you had so much spare hardware!
i just literally just said i'm lucky i fitted a faulty PSU twice and it failed/tripped both times and my full system is ok...

i used my sons PC and for the second PSU is after i gave him a GPU upgrade the 500w was replaced at the same time
