I believe the battery in my laptop is dead after a drink spillage. The battery drained to 0% and now won't charge at all so it needs to be plugged in all the time. Due to the battery constantly being on 0% windows reduces speeds into some sort of power saving mode. I've tried changing the battery options but you obviously can't reduce the it to below 0% when the power saving mode kicks in. I'm sure there must be a way of stopping windows from slowing itself.

Any ideas?

Can you take the battery out and run it just on external power? iirc some laptops can do this, in essence turning it into a desktop kind of thing.

More likely cpu throttling due to heat, laptops dont like running without a battery.

Hmm. I guess that could also make sense. Problem is, I'm not sure whether it's the battery that's damaged or some component in the laptop that is damaged stopping the battery from charging. Rum and coke was spilled all over the keyboard which caused it to turn off and wouldn't turn back on til after a long session of being left in a giant rice bag.

That's what CPUZ is showing.

Something else is wrong. Exactly what is hard to say. Running without the battery should not cause a problem, I've used my previous laptop for 4 years without the battery. Its only recently had heat issues and I suspect this is more to do with the thermal paste needing a refresh.
