Dead BFG 9800GX2?

Hi all..

Just a quick couple of questions I hope someone can help me with!

My BFG 9800GX2 has stopped working ( sort of ) caused some artifacting in battlefield BFBC2 and Starcraft 2 and locked up once or twice.. rebooted and it wouldnt boot in to windows just stays on the windows logo flag.. flag still moves but doesnt load..

anyway.. managed to get in to windows 4-5 times now and have tried reseatin the card.. complete, clean driver install (removed all traces) older driver versions.. all I get in device manager is that the card is not working properly (code 43) checked around and it seems like a few are having/had problems but no answers? Any idea's guys? thrown in my trusty 8800GTX and all runs well..

reckon it's had its day and I should just stump for a 570.. any help would be great.

Dead. But try removing cooler, reapplying TIM and cleaning all the dust out.

That's what I feared life time warrenty.. and no come back as BFG are gone! just my luck ha!

Cleaning didnt help... sadly as I was hopin to get another 6 months out of it!

Ok next question? Think im going to replace it with an ATI card as ive not had one since my trusty x1800xt. What is the better buy currently I see some good results with price/proformance of the 6950 when flashed.. price isnt that bad.. but proformance doesnt seem all that amazing? compared with the likes of the 5870? Found an XFX 5870 for £190, or an 6870 for £160? proformance of the 6800s compared with the 5870/6950?

5870 is looking like a good bet? any suggestions? reckon the 6870s will improve with this years driver realeses? or should i stump up the extra and go with one of nvidia's 570s? price is a fair bit higher?

Get an 6950 and unlock to a 6970 OP.

What's proformance like? ive seen some mixed results in benchs and on here, tho the flashing seems like its working a real treat...
