Dead case modded 360

One of the guys at work asked to repair his 360 for him, its under 3 years old but has a modded case on it. Will MS still repair this for him FOC or will i have to resort to the Clamp and screw fix. Is it worth getting a repair kit off the bay or is just as easy to get the parts yourself? Also i have seen them mention a case tool is this required or can i use flat blade or something?

He will have broken the 'warranty void if removed' sticker in order to switch the case, so a MS repair is out of the question. Unsure about the rest mate but i'm sure someone will fill you in.

Its a modded case, looks like hes put a black gloss case on it thats how its modded. I did put case moddedin the title so the mods dont think its anything naughty.

Doubt it as they can just blame the mod, saying he could have affected cooling.

Well i bought me a Xclamp kit from the bay for under £3 followed the instructions, and it worked first time. No need for oven baking or even the overheat method by disconnecting the fans, is this pretty normal?

Yes, I fixed my friends 360 that way, with just the x-clamps, and it's still going 2 years later.
