Alright guys, here's the deal, I built my first rig today along with the help of my brother and when it was all connected etc etc. The monitor just displayed "No video input"

So far i've done these things:

  • Disconnected the DVDRW and floppy disk.

  • Tried one stick of ram in all 4 slots and also tried the other stick.

  • Connected the graphics card to both slots on the motherboard and also connected the monitor to both DVI connections

  • I've removed all memory from the slots but it still displays that same message on the monitor

  • I've changed around the connections on the PSU but that doesn't work either

Throughout all of this, the motherboard light comes on and all the fans spin but nothing on the monitor :(. What could it be? I'm thinking a dead motherboard.

BTW I used both the old 0401 bios that came with the board and also the new bios that Rizwan sent...

Oh yeah and I get no beeps whatsoever!

not sure if the 1900xt needs it but a lot of cards need a seperate powercable plugged into it, is that in and secure?

Yup, I have connected the PCI-E cable that came with the PSU :) I've tried both actually cuz it came with two of them but to no avail...

you sure its not a dead video card?

I'm not sure yet mate, I can't test the card at home so will have to go to a shop.

Shouldn't I get beeps if I don't have a graphics card installed or memory?

Do you have the ATX12V plug attached to the motherboard? (4 pin plug) What PSU do you have?

The Enermax Liberty 500W, and yeah the 4 pin plug near the CPU socket? I've put that in as well :(

Try and get a mate or someone with a PCIE graphics card and try that, if that doesnt work then i could be your mobo.

Hmm, try turning the speaker connections around on the motherboard to try and get some beeps :)

EDIT: Oh and try disconnecting the HDD, I had this the other day and it turned out to be a knackered maxtor hard drive which stopped it posting

EDIT2: Try resetting the CMOS as well

LISTEN to me.

a lot of people had this problem and everyone apart from me managed to sort it apart from me with this method..

change the cmos reset pins over, pull the mobo battery out and wait an entire 15 mins and put the battery back in and dont forget to change the pins over as well...

now your mobo *should* work

Ok guys i'll do all that tomorrow including running it out of the pc with just the CPU, HSF, one stick of ram and graphics. I've tried resetting the CMOS but only for half a minute, someone suggested for an hour? I'll do that too. Goodnight for now :).

do the CMOS first. its proven to work by 3 people. and if this doesnt work its safe to say the mobo is broken

Ok, i quickly tried running outside the case with the motherboard on the motherboard tray with the CPU, HSF, one stick of ram and graphics card. It gave me the same problem . I've just started the CMOS reset, i'll check it again in an hour...

Just one question, since it's my first build and I don't know how about RMA, do I just contact the etailer for RMA? And how long will it take to get a replacement? Thanks :)

o.. well i done that and i RMAd it. its easy.

send a request, theres a form at www.contact.overclockers.co.uk or something im sure someone else will quote me on that, tell them you tried the CMOS thing. they will give you a RMA number and just follow instructions on the email they send you.

Have you tried changing the speaker connection around to see if you get any beeps? Also, take the graphics card out and then boot to see if it beeps :)

Yep mate :) I turned the connection around the other way then i turned on the pc but it gave no beeps. I've tried it without graphics and also without the ram in, no beeps at all. I didn't order from OcUK but i presume the RMA process is the same :) I've emailed them so im awaiting a reply.

It doesn't matter about the speaker connection, it may sound a little different if the wrong way around but you still get a beep.

It sounds like you have either a dead mobo or CPU. Have you tired with the other stick of RAM and have you checked all the pins on the CPU socket?

I did order a E6300 from another supplier on the net and it came DOA, ordered a E6400 from OcUK and it worked :D
