So restarted a perfectly happy computer and it wouldn't boot. A little diagnosis and I have a dead stick from a matching pair of Corsair Vengeance 3200MHZ LED2x16GB. With just the bad stick I get a Qcode of CC on the motherboard.

1) For a desktop-use only computer does single channel really matter (7700K on a Asus Maximus IX Formula)?

2) Try to buy a matching single stick of obsolete RAM?

3) Sell remaining good stick and buy new RAM?

What's the collective wisdom?

1. Single stick vs 2 sticks does make a difference when it comes to overall use, and it makes a big difference if you game on it.
2. Buying a 2nd stick to match the 1 you have does not guarantee that the PC will run properly as they are not "binned" equally so it might take some fiddling to get it stable.
3. I would recommend selling that stick and buy a new kit, yes.

Just to close off this thread, the Vengeance couldn't be RMA'd because I bought it on ebay and Corsair demanded a receipt which the original buyer couldn't provide.

The Vengeance RAM is now "working" in another rig at 2133.
