Dead CPU? No post

Hello everyone,

So I was using my PC perfectly fine, and then went to go check something on my phone upon looking up I noticed the system have frozen/locked up.

Of course, I went to go reboot and upon attempting to reboot, I do not get any post and the red CPU light on the board is on.

Specs are as follows:
AMD Ryzen 5 9600x
Asrock B850 livemixer
Corsair Vengeance DDR5 CL36 6000mhz ram
AMD RX 7800XT from gigabyte.

I've attempted resetting the CMOS, I've also attempted booting with only 1 stick of ram in all four slots, as well as reseating the CPU. I've attempted to do a bios flash but that don't seem to be working (following Asrocks instructions)

I'm at rather a wits end, I have contacted Overclockers support (as that's where I purchased the board/ram/CPU from) but figured I'd ask here for any advice, as I don't really want to be sending parts back and forth due to this being my only machine.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I think you've done everything you can do really, except swap out the CPU and/or motherboard for another.

Cooler mounts can sometimes cause boot problems, but since it was working before and you didn't move it, I'd imagine it hasn't shifted.

Yeah, unfortunate obviously don't have another CPU to hand. So I do hope they replace it for another, or the very least refund the faulty component. I pray for one or the other.

I've been told apparently 9000 series had issues with dying after a while on some chips coming out of the factory. So perhaps I just got some unlucky silicon

If it is dead, I don't see any reason why OCUK would not refund/replace it.

I suppose so, it's my first purchasing experience with them. And with other retailers I've not had such a good experience. Here's to hoping guess I'll just have to use my phone for however long it takes to be resolved, thank you for the help and assisting me in not tearing my hair out

No worries. You can always go AMD if you prefer, I haven't heard of any bad experiences from a direct RMA, except that they can take awhile.

call OCUK on monday
don't use their webnote as it can be slow at times
OCUK's RMA service is pretty quick and you should get another CPU back within the week

yep, just used AMD's RMA service a few months ago, took 3 weeks
seeing as it's a new CPU bought not long ago I'd recommend to go down the route of OCUK first

Not as of yet, got a new CPU on the way to test tomorrow. If it verifies one or the other, I'll rma one or the other with Overclockers.
 
Check the CPU power connector, top of the board

Mine came loose and caused the same issue, clicked it back in works a treat, sometimes it can be tough to really seat those buggers

I thought the exact same at first, but I quadruple checked it and it's perfectly fine :( so just appears I'm one of the unlucky ones
