My Son might have broken his DS lite

When we turn it on, nothing happens at all. We thought the battery was dead, so we tried charging it over night. Next day, nothing, still dead.

However we did notice that when you put the power cable in a red light appears for less than a second, and then nothing. we can't power it up and it isn't charging.

Short of sending it back to nintendo to get fixed, is there anything we could do, like change the battery?

We brought the DS in Feb so it's about 6 months old.

thanks

Rob

With it just being 6 months old take it back to the retailer to get a replacement.

Remember you're contract of sale is with the retailer where you bought it, so you don't have to send it off to Nintendo, so within the year warrenty just take it back.

Definitely take it back to the retailer to get it swapped rather than trying to change the battery which involves opening the case, which invalidates the warranty.

I dealt directly with nintendo and they were nothing short of brilliant. I did have to pay shipping to them though so go with the retailer if possible.

I'm almost certain that isn't the case. The DS is designed to have it's batteries replaced by the user. In fact, when you get a DS I'm quite sure you have to put the battery in yourself (I did with mine).

I'd definitely try taking it back to the reatiler also.

Correct. I'm quite sure it wouldn't tell you how the replace the battery in the manual if it invalidates the warranty.

Thanks for the replies :)

The problem I've got now is that we cannot find the reciept! (we're in the process of moving house! lol )

I guess unless we can prove we purchased it from Game in Reading, we're looking at going to nintendo...

Perhaps look up a previous bank statement to prove where you bought it from?
