Mrsyoustolemyname's laptop has died for the second time in 12 months ![Frown :( :(](/styles/default/xenforo/vbSmilies/Normal/frown.gif)
Last year it was a faulty graphics card. This year I am baffled.
On pressing the power switch, it fails to POST and goes into a loop as follows:
Power light comes
Multimedia key lights come on
CD drive makes a noise
CPU fan spins for about a second then stops and cuts out
Rinse and repeat. No post beeps are heard and nothing appears on the display.
So far I have tried the following:
Removing memory modules individually and booting with them- this didn't affect it.
Inspecting the HDD via a caddy on my desktop PC. The HDD is fine
Trying it off mains power both with and without a battery. Same as above.
Anyone else have any ideas? The laptop is now out of warranty and rather than us buying a new one a fix would be the ideal solution.
Thanks in advance for any help.
