Gutted :( never once dropped it, never been out of it's case until the other day at work. Hands were a little slippery and dropped the iphone from about 3 feet onto a normal floor surface.

Picked it up and there was the slightest scratch in the very very up left corner, about 2 mm long and a little bit of LCD leakage.

I though bah will be fine, hardly damaged it at all. Turns out that the touch screen now only works in the top half, the lower half of the screen does not respond.

Annoying as it was in mint condition, no scratches on the back or sides before this, had worked flawlessly.

Oh well, looks like £99 upgrade to the V2 is a definite now :p

You're either very unlucky or my other half is very lucky. She's dropped her iphone and a couple of time I think and while it was a dent or two its in perfect working order.

I think I was just extremely unlucky, I know a few people who had dropped theirs much much worse and come out with it lightly scratched only.
Just annoying, I keep getting text messages I can read them on the front screen, but I can't slide to unlock the screen as the bottom half is broken. I can also access the SMS as that icon is at the top but the keypad is on the lower half :D

If I restore it I can get into the settings by dragging icons onto the second screen thereby having two rows of icons across the top.
However I can't choose the general options to turn off the screen lock :D and I can't access my safari/phone/ipod/mail as they are all on the dock at the bottom :D in some ways I wish it had killed it outright, having the top half working is useless :D

sounds very unlucky, I essentially threw mine onto the pavement when trying to get it out of my pocket - all it got was a few scratches to the back metal corner. You don't have insurance do you? I would love to know what they would offer you right now.

Aye it is insured, I shall have to see what they'll do. It wasn't unlocked and never claimed anything before, but seeing as you can't buy them anymore, I wonder :)

I'll ring and ask them tomorrow.

I dropped mine on my driveway, and apart from a scratch it works fine.

At least you can upgrade :)
