I've recently been having trouble with my system. The system would not boot up, just a blank screen, and the gfx card fan would be going at full wack constantly. Managed to work out it was one of my 2 Geil 512mb sticks.

The thing is, is that its very very tempremental. Sometimes it works perfectly for days at a time then stops working all together and I have to take it out for the system to work. Wait a few days, put it back in, and it works. What the Hell could be happening?

Cheers
Chris

EDIT: "No way of testing it" - I meant all the tests I run on it come back fine! and I can't test it when its dead!

When its 'dead' install just that one in the system and turn on. If it doesnt work take it out, put the other one in the same slot and turn on. If it works the send the duff one back for replacement.

What tests are you running? Also, bear in mind that it could be a problem with the DIMM slot. Furthermore, removing a stick of RAM and booting with one module is a temporary fix for a lot of BIOS-lockup issues, which could be caused by other devices in your system, or maybe even the motherboard.
