Dead Island 360/PS3/PC

Its funny I knew everyone would jump on this, like flys to the proverbial(with 2mil in 3days or so you cant not). Perhaps we'll get a decent Zombie movie from this as well as a game.

Dead Island trailer tots up 3 million views, multiple directors interested

If you needed any proof that the Dead Island trailer is effective, here’s two convincing arguments – it’s racked up at least three million views, and Hollywood is fishing.

Industry Gamers reports that in the space of a few days the emotional trailer has garnered over three million mentions on Twitter to go with its equal number of views – and that’s only the trackable tweets.
Meanwhile, publisher Deep Silver told the LA Times it’d received more than one contact from interested filmmakers.
“We’ve had a lot of inquiries,” head of global business management Malte Wagner said.
“Not only from Union but from other major players for film adaptation.
“The talks are very early and there’s no deal whatsoever. Right now I’d say it boils down to three or four opportunities. … We’d rather go with a big studio that can bring the creative side.”
Wagner didn’t name drop, but said “a couple of big-name directors” approached the publisher, and commented that Deep Silver were more inclined to come to terms with a director than a producer.
“If someone is waving a couple million dollars at us it’s an intriguing thing, but I think if we just took the next offer we’d lose value in the long term,” the executive mused.
“We’re a private company and we’re not under the same pressure as other companies. We don’t have people saying accept the next offer. But we’re also aware the buzz won’t last forever.”
Rumours exploded over the weekend that Union or Mummy producer Sean Daniel had acquired the rights to Dead Island, but Wagner says neither had been in direct touch with Deep Silver – although Union’s Richard Leibowitz had approached developer Techland.

Dead Island trailer features first in-game footage

Deep Silver’s just launched the first in-game teaser for Dead Island. The clip is more of a postcards on holiday affair this time round from the island resort of Banoi. It’s the taste for the main trailer at E3, apparently. And no, it’s not a sad soppy affair like last time. Watch the video below the break. The Techland zombie thriller is out later this year for PS3, 360 and PC..

Seriously, looks to be a great game! Did make me laugh when one of the guys from Rooster Teeth couldn't watch it due to the little girl in it. Find it on youtube lol.

I was hoping there'd be some gameplay footage. Graphically it looks great, but for me it's going to be down to whether it's just a hack/slash fest or if there's some actual storyline.
 
FPS it is apparently - for some reason I had it in my head that it was third-person. I just hope it's tense and not all comedy is what I'm saying really.

going by the pics on page 1 it looks like third person

edit/ first person according to the wiki :p

Dead Island will feature open world gameplay, played from a first person perspective, with up to four-player co-operative play (local and online) in a sandbox environment, including a heavily interactive environment. The focus will be on melee combat, incorporating customizable weaponry, vehicular customization/combat, and RPG elements.
