Been playing this the last day or two and I think I am missing something.

I chose the character who specialises in firearms. I haven't found a single gun so far. Am I missing something obvious?

Also, I keep struggling with groups of zombies. It seems to be a real struggle to keep weapons in decent enough shape to fight and also to maintain energy. The thug zombies seem to be a bit tough as well.

Am I just a rubbish or am I doing it all wrong?

You find them later in the game, like quite a bit in.
Don't suppose someone has a spare from 4 pack? (to pay for obviously :p)

Guns are rare at the start of the game you can get one on the 1st act via a mission. As for the zombies try to kick them back if there many attacking you the thug zombies are though buggers :(

The gun specialist (Purna) is actually the support character class, with a lot of her upgrades benefiting your party, so playing as her in a solo game might not be the best strategy. And yes, guns are very rare at the start, as the focus is supposed to be on melee combat. By the end, you'll have more firearms than you know what to do with.

As for fighting tactics, try running past the big groups; thugs go down best if you aim for the head and attack from behind. Their slow reaction times should allow 1 or 2 good hits in.

Run away from groups to split them up, kick is your friend, I use that till they are on the deck and then use the weapon to smash their head in. Collect as much alcohol and deodorant as you can as the molotovs and deo bombs decimate any groups and you can just set a thug alight and back off.

Also chucking gas canisters at the thug works well and, even better, throw a gas canister where the thug returns to and then run in and throw your weapon detonating the canister.

You get plenty of guns later on, dont worry, there are none at all at the start.

im using that character too, no probs here, just be a bit tactical, dont go wading in, its all good when you pick up the weapons

I found jumping and kicking seem to knock them down more, against thugs try throwing weapons then jump kicking and getting your weapons back :)

Add me on steam, fancy another run through this and ive only done it solo upto now so if i you add me and i see you about ill come on for a blast through :)

I have wanted to play this game so much. Huge fan of zombie game but for some reason play this game for longer than 5 mins I get motion sickness no matter what settings I use :(.

To deal with thug zombies. aim for the arms with either blunt weqpons or blades.
its a shame with mouse and keyboard you cant turn off the auto lock on for where you swing. yet with a controller which needs it more you can.

Best using dead island helper (dih). You can find info on it on the steam forums. I think you can remove the head bob with it as well as make a lot of other changes. Definatally worth using it.

a good tactic i also found with groups was to get them into a pool, when you knock them down with a kick they take insane amounts of damage while under the water, and many effectively die that first time.

I loved the game and damn you for now making me need to play it through again, did they ever patch the horrible fov?
