Is Dead Island Steamworks? The Game of the Year edition is Steamworks on Gamefly, but it doesn't say whether the standard game is. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Googled it, herp derp sorry. Delete/merge. :p

Aye it is!

I have the basic retail game on my steam account.

Cheers. :p

Make sure you do the filter key fix to stop the stutters. It will then run silky smooth

" Enter the Ease of access center (this can be accessed through Accessories after clicking Start), then click ‘Make the Keyboard Easier to use’

Click ‘Set Filter Keys’.

Click ‘Set up Filter Keys’.

Click ‘Turn on Repeat Keys and Slow Keys’,and then on ‘Set up Repeat Keys and Slow Keys’. Select the option to ignore all repeated keystrokes, and reduce the time option at the top to 0.0 seconds.

Go back.

Ensure that ‘Turn on Filter Keys’ is ticked at the top and apply. Dead Island now runs smoothly, when you’re done, untick the box and apply."

Job done.

Cheers Voorhees. On GameFly, it says this for Dead Island

'Digital purchases may be downloaded via the GameFly desktop application once you've completed checkout.'

Won't they just give me a Steam code? It doesn't say Steam DRM on the base version but it is apparently Steamworks.

Goto my account - purchase history, click on game order number and it should give you a cd-key.

EDIT: As far as I am aware all versions of Dead Island must have Steam.

I haven't bought it yet. :p

I wanna find out if this one from GameFly will be Steamworks, really confused because it doesn't say it is whereas they normally state it if they are, and it says

'Digital purchases may be downloaded via the GameFly desktop application once you've completed checkout.'

Whereas Steamworks titles from there say 'Activate this key on the Steam Client' or something to that effect. Very confusing :/.

Hi Craig,

Thank you for contacting GameFly.

Dead Island does require a third party download however our information is limited to what is on the product page. For more specific information please reach out to the publisher for this game which is Deep Silver.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

I think Dead Island is only Steamworks. Gamefly is not that bad though for other stuff as you only download via its client with games that are not Steam. You never need it running to play anything.

Just found a code with the Order, and it activated on Steam as Retail. Code took ages to come through but it does work. Thank. God. For. That. :p

Now to uninstall GameFly + Adobe AIR. -_- LOL
