Not sure if anyone else knows about this - but details about a rather interesting game have been released recently. Dead Island.
I'm not up for re-searching for all of the sources of where I read everything (partly because I read about them from multiple devices and sources; PC, other PC, Ps3, iPod etc Joystiq, forurms etc)
Well here is what I know/heard:
The game is set on an (holiday) island (obviously) which players are free to explore and features 4 different characters to play as. The game features drop-in drop-out coop and RPG elements such as skill trees. Throughout the game there will be cars and guns however these will be rare and delicate. E.g. when driving cars, a crash will crack the windscreen making it difficult to drive until your character kicks the windscreen out.
Aside from skill trees the game will also feature weapon customisation (when asked how many combinations there will be the devs stated ''We are looking into a couple thousand''. The emphasis will be on melee weapons (although there are guns!). There are workbenches in the game where the player can upgrade weapons etc. Weapons in the game will be colour coded based on quality.
There will be different types of zombies such as 'Vessles' which are your standard zombies and 'Rams' (I think) which are big zombies wearing straight jackets [you can probably guess what they do].
I also heard that the game will be running their new engine (can't remember the name) but from what I have seen, graphics are looking very spectacular indeed.
So, what are your thoughts? Personally - this game has caught my attention. It has some of my favourite elements from different games (zombie types from l4d, drop-in/drop-out coop and colour coded weapons from Borderlands etc).
I'm hoping that the island will be very large - large enough to explore and hold a few secrets! (I'm almost praying for an hidden armoury somewhere
or maybe certain types of zombies only appearing at certain parts of the island at certain times e.g. sprinting zombies in the cities at night).
Awhile ago I was considering getting Rage, but seeing these small details has made me re-consider. Plus I'm a huge fan of zombies
