Hi,

A mate of mine has recently had he's PSU blow again, after he replaced it last year it worked fine, but this time it will not start up, i have checked the PSU by jump-starting it and the PSU starts fine.

After checking over the board i noticed that one of those metal ring things (sorry i dont know what they are called!) next to the cpu looks burnt out compared to the other ones around it.

Is this a sign that the motherboard has gone?

Many thanks.

Although it may seem a little far fetched, maybe you could just try placing the burnt out polo (that's what I call them :) ) Electronics components shops would carry them, obviously youll have to make sure you get the right one. Maybe pull it off the board and take it into a shop and ask.

Does the system no longer boot then? Power on?

Well i wouldnt have the skills to do it, and it would probably be easier to just replace the board.

So were all agreed that its defiantely dead then yeah?
