Dead Mobo?

I've had my PC now for about 1.5 years and suddenly when I went to power it on yesterday there was nothing.. no fans spinning, no LEDs, nothing.

I initially thought it might be the PSU, so I switched out the PSU for one I knew worked in another computer and same issue, try the PSU in another computer and it powers on.. so PSU seems fine.

My next suspicion would be motherboard, so I'll have to buy a new motherboard and test this as I unfortunately have no other 2011-3 socket motherboards.

Any thoughts?

Concerned it might be CPU.

Is there any tell-tale signs of what component it would be?

Mobo has nothing when powered on (no LED's, etc to indicate there's any power going to it) which is what's led me to believe it's the motherboard, but having second thoughts.

When I killed my my 3570k when delidded it with a razor, when switched on, the fans started spinning and lights came on the mobo, so I would guess its not the CPU

There is a chance it could be the switch on the case that is faulty, maybe wire it up the the reset switch if your case has one and try that? also double check all the jumpers for the switches.

have you changed the fuse / tried a new kettle lead? I have a fault kettle lead once, took a while to narrow that down lol.

That thought crossed my mind last night so I hooked it up to a different case for the front panel buttons but still had the same issue (no power).

Yeah, tried different kettle leads and different wall sockets etc, seems to be an issue with a component :(

Thanks for the response.

Replaced the motherboard today and it powered up without issues...

So seems my motherboard randomly died after 1 and a half year.

Any idea who I'd go to for RMA?

Gigabytes website just mentions contacting the vendor, I opened a call with OcUK 2 days ago and I'm waiting to hear back.

I was always under impression after 1 year the vendor typically doesn't care and would always put you to the manufacturer.

1 year is standard for UK for the vendor - beyond that the manufacturer may hold an extended warranty - check the paperwork that's in/on your motherboard box.

It's a 3 year warranty on all Gigabyte mobo's afaik, so warranty shouldn't be an issue it's just determining who the appropriate contact would be for the RMA :P
