Hey, my motherboard has been playing up recently, and its finally given up. I now need to decide wheather an upgrade is worth it, as i need to spend money on a new motherboard anyway. Or should i stick with a short term fix and upgrade in a year or so.

Here are my current specs:
  • Asus 7950-DC2T-3GD5-V2
  • Intel 2600k
  • Alpenfohm K2 cooler
  • 4 * Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 4GB DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz
  • Samsung 128GB SSD 830
  • 8tb of various HDDs
  • Antec 1100 case

if i am only getting a new motherboard i'd rather not go over £100. But if i go for a upgrade i will go to £600. What options do i have?

IMHO, your cpu is still mighty fine and i'd just look at replacing the mobo. if you really want a bit more gaming grunt, then you could look at upgrading your graphics card. i'm well out of the loop with new stuff so i'm sure others can chime in.

edited: because i thought you only had 4GB ram but it looks like you have 4x4GB which is more than enough. :p

Just get a Z77 motherboard for it. You should be able to pick up a decent one for £50 or so second hand. The 2600K is still a very capable cpu, even more so when overclocked.
