dead motherboard?

hi recently the green light on my motherboard decided to turn off and now I cant power up my pc. power supply works so guessing its a motherboard issue, any advice what I could try? its an old system asus m2n sli deluxe motherboard and phenom x2 945 processor

Check the capacitors; usually the main reason for motherboard failures.

How do you know your PSU works if your motherboard wont turn on ? Have you used a PSU tester and tested all the outputs or have you tried it in another PC?

Well i looped wire and all fans spin so guessing that means it works?? Or this not correct??
