Recently had a netbook hard-drive die after something was accidentally dropped on the netbook (while it was switched on). Now when I turn it on all I get is "A disk read error occured - Press alt-ctrl-del to restart".
So in the short term I was thinking I just need to buy a new 2.5 inch drive, swap them over then re-install windows.
But... Is there anything I can do to try and save data? I really want to recover as much of it as I can if it's possible.
So I figure I will at least need to hook it up to another computer. But I don't have another desktop... Only another netbook. So is there a way to hook up a secondary 2.5 inch drive to a netbook? I was thinking some kind of 2.5" drive to USB adapter thingy might exist?
And either way, any tips for data recovery?
