My dad has cleaned his pc and killed it i think.

He called me up today saying he'd taken the processor and fan out as it was covered in dust, but when putting it back in it doesn't boot up.

Anyone any ideas which bits dead ? the fans all spin when he turns the power on but no post to bios and no error beeps.

I'm thinking the processor is dead.. but could it be the motherboard? since no bios post.

It's hard to say whats wrong, it going to be the case of trial and error, things I would
check are ensure the CPU & Heatsink are correctly fitted and did he use new thermal compound.
Try resetting the BIOS as the board could have detected a chip had been removed and installed.

do you mean resetting the CMOS?

ok update time, he's taken it all appart as i suggested and it turns out he'd bent 2 pins on the cpu. He proceeded to bend them back and his pc is up and running again now. I've told him he is now not allowed inside his pc unless i am there :P
