Hello,
I'm looking to purchase a new monitor - Hyundai W240D-PVA 24". I generally buy all my components from Overclockers, though they don't seem to offer a dead pixel checking service.
Is there any reason why Overclockers don't offer this service? If i'm spending £400 on a monitor, i'd happily spend another £20-£30 ensuring the product is perfect.

Cheers

Well dead pixels are very rare these days. In the last 2 years i've bought 5 LCD TV's/monitors and not one has had a dead/defective pixel.

I had my 24PVA pixel checked,

But the problem with buying from a dealer that offers a pixel check is that if you dont get a pixel check done then the chances are your more likely to recieve a Monitor with dead pixels

Manufacturers won't accept monitors back as faulty if they have only a few dead pixels - any retailer offering a dead pixel check is practically a scam as far as I'm concerned. They often simply charge you extra for doing nothing at all, except that they'll let you return the monitor if it happens to have a dead pixel. Alternatively they might actually look at the screen in advance - but in either case, the monitors that do have dead pixels get sent to people who buy a monitor and don't pay for a dead pixel check. It's just a way of inflating the price of the monitor - when the actual number of monitors with dead pixels is fairly low, and since the Distance Selling Regulations give you the right to send it back in any case, you're much better off buying from somewhere that doesn't offer the "service".
