On my girlfriends Acer AL1917 monitor there was a dead pixel at the top center and I contacted Acer and they arranged a courier to collect it then replaced the LCD board and returned it within a week, it may have been because there was another fault I was unaware of, because it says in their warranty that it has to have 5 or more dead pixels.
Dead pixel = no fault
