Dead pixel on new monitor? (Iiyama ProLite E2473HDS)

Hey,

I ordered a Iiyama ProLite E2473HDS from OcUK which came last night, plugged it in and noticed a single black pixel on my screen.

It's in the middle of the screen so hard not to notice, and frankly, is driving me nuts!!

The pixel shows up black in front of any bright colours, when I look at it over a black background then it shows up slightly dark greyish in colour. Could it be a stuck pixel instead?

I've got JScreenFix running as I'm typing this, if it is a stuck pixel then hopefully that will fix it.

Shame this happened, besides this I really love this monitor!! I would have brought another.

Seeing as it's only one dead pixel do you think OcUK or Iiyama will take it back? If they don't then I've been told to RMA it.

Hope someone here can tell me what the problem is and any ideas on how to fix it, I really want to keep the monitor.

Thanks :D

According to this page, you might be out of luck with regards to the warranty.

4) The following LCD exclusions apply:
a) Blemishes or missing pixels are less than 6 pixels (red, green or blue).

I imagine ocuk will follow the manufacturer's warranty. You could return it under the DSR though, assuming the packaging is still reasonably intact.

I'll give OcUK and Iiyama a phone call soon and check. If I RMA it then I'll lose out about £30 in postage (what I paid buying it and sending it back).

I wouldn't mind if it was in the corner of the screen but it's pretty much in the center, doing some more checking - the pixel appears white/grey on a black or blue background. Going to try some more "stuck" pixel fixes.

Looks like I'm going to RMA it under the distance selling regulations.

Sending it back Royal Mail Recorded First Class delivery works out at £18.87, saw on another thread that I'd be ok just sticking the postage label straight onto the box it came in (over the DPD label) as it wasn't wrapped.

Will it make a difference that when I got this monitor yesterday it wasn't sealed? There was a small tear on the opening also as you can see in the picture below.

If the tear was there before you opened the monitor then I'd drop a quick email to ocuk telling them as such, and then possibly use some parcel tape or something just to make sure it doesn't tear further.

Even if you caused it it's not a problem, as far as I'm aware the law just says the packaging has to be sufficient to protect the product. It would be hard to argue that a small tear risked damage.

DSR that thing fast as you can and tell them what you have said here. Should be no problems with it. May take a couple days to get the money back into your account or on your card but usually not to long in my experiences.

Thanks guys for the advice :)

I've just been on the phone to Iiyama and they told me to take a picture and email it them, they'll get back to me before the end of the day whether it would be covered by the warranty or not.

The customer service rep told me they probably wouldn't cover it and I should ship it back to OcUK, but won't hurt to try. I'll give OcUK a phone call now to sort out the RMA return which I'll do tomorrow.

Real shame I'm having to return this, everything else I've brought from OcUK has been absolutely wonderful. I'll be looking more into pixel warranties and returns when I reorder this after returning it :)

If you are sending it back it'd probably be cheaper to send it via a courier through somewhere like parcel2go.

Should be able to get it shipped for less than a tenner.

Royal Mail's Parcelforce express48 courier service comes to around £19 - two days for delivery, online tracking, and £200 insurance. There's a post office literally across the street from my office so I went and asked before.

Know of any cheaper/better couriers I could use?

I would pursue further with OCUK.

If it's under 28 days you can send it back to them, at least the competator I bought the components for my rig from offered this.

If OC, say they can't do anything, or that it isn't technically a vault. Unlikely surely they strive for great CS? You can return the item for a full return posted within 7 days of recipt, this is legally binding under the cooling off period of the distance selling act.

Although i'm sure it won't come to that.

(I know this from a case a bought of another site, there CS considered a cosmetic scratch NOT a fault, so I said no problem I'm returning it within 7 days, simply because I don't like it. Bugger all they could do about that)
