dead pixels, am I just being fussy

Evening all

I got a Samsung 226BW for Crimbo and noticed a couple of things 'wrong' with it. I've been running with a CRT up until now so am I just being too critical?

The most annoying problem is several (I counted thirty then gave up) stuck, dead or lazy pixels. They are various colours and randomly spread over the panel and all appear to remain in the same place (as far as I can tell). It seems like a fault to me but is there some well known setting/procedure that I'm missing (I just plugged the monitor into my machine and left it at that).

The other problem (and I suspect its just me not being used to the limitations of not having a CRT) is that some lines of text are randomly fuzzy, like horizontal bands of fuzzy text.

All in all I'm a bit gutted cos its a very purty piece of kit, any worldly wisdom would be very much appreciated.

Cheers

That's far too many pixels to even think about keeping the monitor, no your not being fussy at all so phone for a replacement as soon as poss. Seeing its only a couple of days old then a brand new monitor will be sent out and not a swap-out or exchange. :)

Over 30 bad pixels is absolutely terrible for a new monitor. The text problem does n't sound right either. Sounds like you have been really unlucky, send it back for a new replacement.

I've noticed the same thing on the same monitor that a friend has got, some lines of text on a page or document just seem fuzzy, it happens randomly though

Have you got clear-type selected? Most TFT screens look much better if using clear-type, download from MS site into your control panel and try out the several different settings available. :)
