OK, I took advantage of the "This Week Only" offer yesterday Thursday and received the monitor this morning - so it's about 6 hours old. Being all excited and all I opened it and installed it only to find 2 lazy/dead pixels on the center of my screen. They're more or less dead pixels as no matter how many times I flick it or massage the screen it still remains there...

Now what do I do? There also seems to be a few scuff marks on the screen, like smudges I can't remove... Do I contact OcUK for a replacement or Belinea?

Unless other people have some ideas... :(

Contact OCUK, they should arrange a pickup at their expense.

Let us know how this goes i'm curious to know what you can get away with with regards to getting replacements for monitors with dead pixels...

Did you get a DVI cable with it, or do you have to buy it separate?

thanks

No DVI cable with this monitor. :(

Will do, just sent them a webnote and am waiting a reply. Might not have minded if the pixels were in the corner of the screen - the fact that they're both dead center is a little too eye distracting! :(

Hi there

You need to contact Belinea. As monitors have onsite warranty. Just contact themselves, inform them the monitor is faulty just say its got loads of dodgy spots/colours in the centre of screen, act a bit dumb.

They will send a courier to remove your current one and drop you a new one off, make sure they know its within 28 days as then you will get a brand new monitor and not a refurb. :)

Well... this is the reply I got.

Dear KBC,

2 dead pixels is not classed as a faulty item there needs to be 6 for it to be classed as faulty under the ISO 13406-2 standard for LCD screen pixel faults.

Regards

So...

Seeing as OcUK will not accept this as faulty... Looks like I'm going to have to deal with Belinea directly. Just great. :( And it's only a few hours old.

see Gibbo's reply above :) If you contact Belinea I would recommend concentrating more on the colour smudge patchs and scuffs than the dead pixels. As you've seen from the response you got (presumably from someone else at OcUK) you won't have much luck down the 2 dead pixel route

Actually the limit for that screen is 4 dead pixels, not 6, but it obviously doesn't matter for your purposes.

Think it depends on the class of panel doesnt it? For example a higher class allows for less dead pixels etc

Was gonna order one of these next Tuesday. Just can't make up me mind now having read the above. Is it worth the extra £118 over the Hanns-G HW191D?

I will be using it for gaming and movies. I also will use it during the day on the net for day trading and don't want to be doing a lot of vertical scrolling to view pages.

thanks.

The monitor is great, provides a large resolution for browsing and gaming. What monitor are you upgrading from?

It offers a nice display with good viewing angles for movies, just hope when you order one of these you don't get any dead pixels.

I'm using a crappy old compaq 17" CRT after my iiyama 21" VisionMaster 502 gave up 2 weeks ago.

Aside from saving room and avoid burning out your retinas... the monitor is a great buy at that price, there are better ones however such as the Viewsonic VX2025... but that's a little more expensive.

Can't say I've noticed any ghosting on this screen during a game of Counter Strike Source, movies seem clear, doesn't look washed out... Good resolution and plenty of desktop space.
