Something struck me after I got over the initial disappointment of finding a dead pixel on my nice new monitor, along with the fact that you cannot return it, it's almost worthless in terms of resale value.

Once you mention a dead pixel to a potential buyer, all interest goes out of the window. Because of this, I feel that one should be enough for it to be deemed faulty.

Not necessary, people still buy it - but price will go down quite a notch.
Hence I think its very unfair for manufacturers to sell (or at least, trying to sell) monitors with dead pixels for same price as pixel perfect ones. They pretty obviously have different market values.

Btw why you can't return it if its brand new? Surely you can return under DSR even if its not a warranty fault?

Can't you return it anyway? Not for the dead pixel specifically but under the distance selling regulations (or whatever it was that replaced that). Assuming it was like it when you got it and that was only just.
