Dead PS3 :(

I cant believe my hardly used PS3 is broken . It wont read any disc at all. I have formatted it and done every possible thing to try and fix it but its completely dead.

So tomorrow I think I will pop into town and buy a new slim 120gb model, what do I do with my old broken PS3? Dont name any competitors as you may get in trouble, but can you answer if any of them will buy a faulty PS3 off me?

Its the 40 gb one. I have tried the recovery menu and that didnt help either . I am a bit worried about being sent back a refurbished PS3 and having 3 months warranty with it. I think its around £100 for Sony to do this for me?
