Just built a new system and went to power her up for the first time this morning.

....nothing. No fans, no beeps .. nothing.

Now I've built systems in the past and never had any problems.

So, before I send the psu back (bad timing with Monday looming) is there anything else to try?

I've tried starting with the minimum attached and a different power cord.

System is:
Asrock ConRoe945G (Skt LGA775)
Pentium D 805 Dual Core (2x 2.66)
Corsair 1GB PC4200
DVD-rw, 160g HDD etc

To test a psu is easy
All you need to do is pull the large atx connector from the motherboard as well
as the 4 way for cpu power.
Remove any power cables to dvd roms hd's etc
Take a peice of wire bent in a u shape
locate the switch pin ( has a GREEN wire - on main power connector ) , on either side on the same row you will see 2 black wires put the wire between the green and one of the black wires , the psu should now turn on.
If it doesnt switch on the psu is fubar , if it does then its either your power button or the mobo ( or power button not correctly connected )

good luck :-)

Nothing at all.

Tried both black cables and nothing.

Will RMA the psu and hope the father in law doesnt mind not getting his Xmas pressy! :(

Cheers for your help.

Ok - so i went and got another PSU.

But... still nothing - arghhh!!!

I can get it to start when I do the paperclip in the green and black but not when I connect anything else.

Could this be a dead mobo now?

Re-checked the old PSU which was definatley dead on arrival.

Any ideas?
