Dead PSU?

Hello,

I've just come back from working in the states for a month to find my PC won't start. I thought at first that it was the fuse in the kettle lead so i switched the lead out from one of my other spare ones which i know is ok and nothing.

The PSU fans don't turn on or anything. I checked the power switch on the back of the PSU and turned it on an off but that didn't do anything.

I unplugged some of my main components such as graphics card and turned on again but nada.

My PSU is only two years old and is an Antec TruePower 550W (which i got from overclockers) so i what other stuff should i check/troubleshoot to establish whether it is a dead PSU?

Cheers

Have you tried shorting the PWR header pins on the motherboard, your power switch on the PC could be faulty.

Yeh, use a flat headed screwdriver, just touching them then moving the screwdriver off would work.

If the PC magically boots up the switch is busted, the first thing I always check with a PC that wont power up after the kettle lead.

just checked (took me a while to dig out my motherboard manual to figure out where the power jumpers actually where  ) and nothing happens.

So i guess it's a dead PSU?
