Dead PSU?

Hi,

After re doing my rig yet again, the mobo lights and aquaero screen all turn on, but the system refuses to start. Even when the PSU is bridged, nothing happens

I've tried sticking a Corsair 600w in my system and that works with no problems at all (no hardware ones anyway...). Is there any way i can test for certain that the PSU is dead?

So could it be that it's one cable that's causing the problems, but the rest are fine?

ie, could the 24 pin be fine whilst the 8 pin is faulty?

But if the PSU doesn't allow itself to be turned on then surely there's no way it could be functional? Or am I missing something?

What's the best way to prove it's 100%, never going to come back from the grave, dead before sending it back to a retailer seemingly notorious for rubbish RMA?
