Dead Rising 2 + OTR + Resident Evil 5 moving to Steamworks early 2015

Hopefully that'll mean co-op in RE5 won't drop randomly anymore natively throwing you back to the start of the mission you were on. Ended up using a crazy fake LAN + hack to get coop to work stable. A pain, but worth it :)

Believe me we tried everything and were not alone, sometimes it could be fine and there was never an issue starting a game - it would just suddenly drop out sometimes.

Trust me its router/firewall related I play this game for many happy hours in co-op back in 2009 never had any dropouts!

The dropouts are caused when you do not have the required ports open, port forwarding enabled on your router & or firewall settings which do not allow it through.

Or I could just wait for it to switch to Steamworks where I no longer have to hope my co-op partner doesn't think the box his internet comes from is magic and have no idea how to set anything up.

Not really worth arguing over, but we did fwd all the ports and everything else suggested across multiple forums/sites. Sometimes sessions were fine for 4 hours, sometimes they dropped every 20 minutes. Back near the launch of the game however we never had any issues, it always seemed like a later update screwed it up (to GFWL). With all that said though, when we bypassed the online play and did it via virtual LAN we never had an issue.

Probably worth noting that other games like DR2 with GFWL had no issues either, strangely enough. But yeah, doesn't matter now :p

Still waiting for Street Fighter X Tekken and Lost Planet 2. The last on my list move over to Steamworks but looks like that won't happen.

No news on Resident Evil 5 though? Strange.
Capcom submitted a remove GFWL patch to Microsoft over 2 weeks ago they are still waiting on it being approved by MS..........

RE5 is also going to be the Gold edition with the console DLC (which you have to buy again) & not only that its confirmed as DX9 only despite RE5 being DX10 with GFWL which made loading instant as DX10 allows that to take advantage of newer DirectX tech to preload the games graphics but the DX9 version is crippled loading wise!

This is now live on steam but as always with Capcom there are lots of technical issues :( :

1: Steamworks save games are not working at all for anyone.
2: Steamworks version does not run properly crashes at startup.
3: GFWL Retail keys are not being reedemed yet but you can buy the DLC & both games for 66% off right now
