currently playing dead rising and im in the north plaza at the save game point and as its night time - the zombies are pshycos and ive got one bar of heal which even one hit/punch etc (never mind them munching away at my neck) and im dead.

Ive tried running through and dodging the zombies smacking them with the guitar combo doing the jump kick but there is that many of them i cant even get out of the small halway leading from the rest rooms into the main part.

anyone got any good tips when low on health.

You sir, are zombie food!

Try heading to the gun shop and tool up? Also look in the unfinished shops, some of them have crisps, drink etc.

tell me about it, the problem is the save point with in a small hallway that leads into the main north plaza (behind the Shadow of North Plaza) scoop but i can even get into the main plaza with out a zombie hitting me and killing me (plus as its night they are also the pshyco red eye zombies)

What level are you? As said, try and make it to Stans supermarket if possible. If not, in the main corridoors there will be gangplanks with zombies on them. If you can clear those off the planks you can find bits of food there - coffee creamer, a baguette etc.

Have any of you had problems with saved games in dead rising?

I have it as a rental at the moment and did a little bit this morning, but now I can't load it.

I definitely saved it as I can see my status, I just can't select the save it just has new game.

Am I missing something obvious here?

yes, this is the fabled save bug.

Its not a bug tho, just a wierd system.

Basically the game is meant to be played through a few times, like 100's not once or twice. Your sposed to be able to quit out when it gets too hard, or else just die. But of course you keep your stats.

Breaks down like this. If you die you get the option to save your char or load a previous save. If you save then your back to the main menu and free to start the game with your newly levelled up char. If you save in game you have 2 main options.

Save and continue

Save and Quit

Problem is in the wording. Save and quit ACTUALLY MEANS SAVE AN QUIT. As in save your stats and quit the game NOT save your position and come back later. Save and continue puts you back in the game, THEN if you quit you can load it but thats the only way.

Its a wierd system but when u truly understand the game it does make sense.

Edit: additionally to that, the reason the game is laid out like this is because you cannot do everything at the start, as level 1-10 there is no way your gonna save hardly any hostages and you'll probably get your butt kicked by most psychopaths. By level 10-20 you can probably make some headway into the story and save a few hostages and kill some psychos but you will die at times. By level 20-40 you can (depending on your skill) reasonably tackle the main story and choose to take on any side missions you like. Some bits are tough but north of level 30 you should cope. At level 40-50 you can actually do what you want, the game is fairly easy at this point and you can really do whatever you feel like or go attack the dreaded survival mode!!

basically ive 'finished' the game 20+ times but ive hardly done any of the story or survivgor missions because im simply not good/experienced enough for them, tho ive just hit level 25 so i think im nearly ready :D

yeah youll get a bit sick of saving the 2 oldies on the roof :( you can skip the chopper part with "start" but on the lower levels if you take the right pictures (like when the petrol station blows up or when the woman falls off the building etc) you can level up quite fast.

EDIT another good photo for high PP gains is when u reunite the two ppl on the roof at the start, get them just as they run and hug each other for a cool 20,000 points i think

I got DR during the week but have been playing on my girlfriends 14" TV and as you know, DR doesn't like none HD displays so I could never actually see what was wrote on the screen (help guides etc) what is the purpose in the picture taking??

I play on SDTV too so i sympathise, fortunately on 28" widescreen with RGB the writing is legible.

Photo's gain you PP which in gamer terms is EXP for levelling up (you see the PP bar in the top left?) PP is gained in loads of ways, killing zombies (especially in inventive ways) saving hostages (or even TRYING to) completing missions, killing psychos etc. But ALSO from taking pictures.

Now any picture of zombies in range will gain you PP but certain pictures give you bonuses, if you catch a dramatic moment or a horrific one or whatever you will get mega PP bonuses. Also there are achievements for photographing survivors and psychos. For help on getting the right photos theres a book in paradise plaza that shows icons above all items in the scene with a colour code showing how 'valuable' they are PP wise.

Photography can be largely ignored but does offer a sedate way to level up. PS on a sadistic note there are bonuses for 'erotic' images too, these include up skirt and down top type shots.....and no not just on the hot blonde girl at the hideout, on old people and rotting zombies too EURGH

Your character is a photographer. It's just an added feature in the game to get 'pp stickers' which are little 'pp' icons hidden on items throughout the mall.

PP also causes you to level up, so good photos will help you on your way.

you get about 700,000 (probs more) after you beat sean. dont forgot the survivor in the cupboard too. Save all seven (a very very very short jopurney) and you'll get a massibe bonus there too. Dont ignorte that scoop/case if you're levelling up.

Well i haven't played this game for ages now (although i still own it as i liked playing it tbh).

EDIT:The scoop is called "A strange Group" - you get the call from otis at around 1pm on sept 21st. Using adams chainsaws are highly recommended here as you have get through lots and lots of those weird people wearing green masks and yellow coats (1000 PP each) - both to get in the threatre (#4) and then after you defeat him.

On a side note - if you're trying to level up - you should consider holding a book (can't remeber the name right now) that gives you 10% extra PP killing zombies and bosses.
