I was under the impression there was an update available for this game, that made the text legible on a Standard Definition TV?

And well, I really can't read much of what's going on at the moment, and I've never been prompted to update the game?

Is there an update? Is there any reason why i wouldn't have been prompted to do it?

Are you connected to Xbox Live on the dashboard before starting the game? Sometimes the games won't prompt for an update because you weren't connected to Xbox Live at the time. Xbox Live won't connect straight away as of late so many are starting their games up without signing on, missing updates and such. Apart from that, no idea. I didn't know Dead Rising got an update for the small text problem.

Yeah, I'm connected. Just did some searching around the net, And is looks like the patch that I had heard about never came to light. :( Eugh, Looks like I'll have to wait. Can't play it like this
 
You can surly play it, one of the best games on the xbox. Played it last night, got to level 21! What is the highest level?

Nah, I can play it in the sense I can have fun killed zombies and stuff, And the cutscenes are fine. but any phone calls I receive, I start to feel sick after a while trying to make out the words
 
Bit of a sham to be honest, the majority of Dead Rising players won't have a HDTV. I wonder how it got through quality control.

Have you ever thought of exploring the option of buying a VGA cable and using your PC monitor? A cheap alternative to HD sets.

I was just thinking about this, I only have a 15" Monitor, But I do have 2 x 15" so I could easily get away with setting up the 360 on one of them.

Even if its just to play dead rising
 
Decided to go buy an Xbox 360 VGA Audio Video Cable and an Xbox 360 - Pc Vga Switch Box & Audio.

Nice set up now, My left TFT can instantly be changed from displaying my extended desktop to displaying the 360.

Wish i'd done this ages ago
 
I bought a 360 because of Dead Rising and when I did so I had a 14" SDTV. You can imagine the pain of trying to read the text on the game with that setup.

I didn't play it again until I got a HDTV (the day after the PS3 came out as I couldn't play a PS3 on it either :p)
 
yeah, the stupid buggers didn't think to test it on SDTVs using only HDTVs in their development process and they never did release a patch, complete idiots (yes i have an SDTV :( (for another 2 weeks)
 
The QA department won't be given luxuries like HDTVs, they'll be most likely using 14" SDTVs and the issue will have been waived by one of the producers.
It's how it works in the industry.
