Dead Rising - what am i doing wrong?

Why can't i start off from where i was last time i played? It wasn't that far in but i've been dumped back to the start of the game AGAIN..but with my levels up a bit.

Quite annoying.

How do i save and then load my game next time i play? Continuing on from my last save i mean.
