Hello,

my RTX 2070 is dead and displays XO artefacts all over and goes to a pink screen at other times. It has the Samsung memory and as I’m not the original owner I can’t simply RMA it.

I can get replacement chips but I’m unsure of how to find which chip is problematic, so my question is can I remove one of the memory modules and will the card still function but with less memory?

Thanks!

Which model is it? I’d try everything to get it replaced before removing chips lol. Can’t imagine it will work without them all in place.

It’s a Gainward base model. Their RMA procedure means you have to go to place of purchase and as I’m second owner it’s impossible.

Seems to be the standard ram issue and can do BGA soldering, but am unsure how to figure out which chip/s are bad

thanks pal, I can do the repair myself but I was wondering if anyone knew of any programs to isolate the bad chip?

I'm an IPC specialist but have no idea how to diagnose faults on these expensive cards, even my own. I should 've paid more attention at school.

No idea about gainward
But had an acer monitor years ago
When it went faulty I had no receipt but
After a bit of arguing with them in the end
Up they agreed with me that the
Serial number proved it was still in warranty period
I told them it was a gift/present and that's why didn't have a receipt
May or May not work but lose nothing by trying that
