My S3 died last night. Stuck it on charge, under my pillow, like every other night. Woke at 1am to it very hot and stuck on the boot screen. Read around the net, deleted all data etc, tried a new firmware with ODIN, tried re-partitioning it, everything. Phone is dead, I can't boot into Recovery, I can only get onto 'Download' and even then ODIN won't work it's magic. When trying to stick a firmware on, ODIN hangs at "NAND Write Start" and when I try to re-partition it fails...

I think my phone has SDS...

Took phone into O2 today, they had a look at it and tomorrow it is being sent to Samsung for a warranty repair or replacement...

Did you explain to them you had basically been cooking it for the past 6 months and that the NAND probably failed due to that excessive heat?

If my screen fails because I put a screwdriver through it I wouldnt expect a repair under warranty. This is no different.

The fact my phone was never getting hot means nothing?

The nand failing is a well known issue and the cause of sudden death syndrome so I don't see the problem

Indeed, this is true. I actually thought I would get a brand new phone, but they just repaired mine, even after the blue pebble front screen has been changed to white...
