Picked these up for £25 (Dead Space 1 = £5, Dead Space 2 = £20) from a street game retailer.

How does these games play on keyboard and mouse? Are they better with a 360 controller?

Thanks.

Personally, I used a 360 controller for the first one, and then switched for some reason on the bit I've played number 2 to KB and mouse. No reason why really. I think it's a game which is nice on either.

With Dead Space 1, make sure you leave V-sync turned off in-game and force it on using your graphics drivers. If you use the in-game v-sync, the mouse movent is very bad.

I tried both on DS1 and found it so much better with the X-Box pad. Mouse is useable once you get used to the accel and have turned V-sync off though.

None, it really isn't that scary.

There is one bit that might make you jump near the end though...don't want to say anymore and spoil it for you :D.

I used mouse+KB for both, much better for me (own xbox360 pad too).

As to boxer shorts, it depends when you are playing, I played only at night times with 5.1 or DJ headphones sometimes and it is well scary through all gameplay of both parts, if during days, can't feel same at all!

I played DS1 with controller for a while, then switched to mouse+keyboard and found it much better (especially since I had mapped a couple of functions to my extra mouse keys).

Never played the first, but play the second one with a mouse & keyboard. Took me awhile to get used to the controls though but then it is designed to be used with a joypad.

It works fine with the 360 pad. I played both through with that without issue. My only comment is that at times real precision shooting is required and if your pad-fu is weak you may struggle.

I found myself having to switch to the mouse for certain tentacle related sections in DS1. You will find out what I mean.

I played the first seven chapters with Vsync on. :p I thought that was how it was meant to be, heh. You get used to it.

That's like saying "I was running with a thumbtack in my shoe, I figured the shoe was sold like that and so was how it was supposed to be. I got used to being in excruciating pain with every step to!" :D:p

mouse plus keyboard

also I think mouse is a lot easier for aiming than a stick, thats just me through

In DS1 you can also tweak the mouse movement past the max sensitivity you can set in the menus using an ini tweak.

If you're left handed you might have some problems with the keybinds in DS1 as you can't use the arrow keys. There are work-arounds though.

DS2 is much better - it feels designed for mouse and keyboard, though the weighty ponderous feel is gone, which is a shame.

I'm going ot try this. Finished the first 6 chapters so far and can't hit a barn door. The game is almost unplayable without vsync.

As I understand they have fixed the controls for the second installment.
