I just bought Dead Space 1 from somewhere and thought I'd be able to activate it on Origin.

I typed the key in and it said what game it was. But then when I click on 'Next' it says there is an error and cancels.

Does anyone know what the problem is?

Thanks.

I've been asking for ages, but it seems you can't enter EA retail keys on Origin without going via EA Support, and that's just one step too far for me. There's no way I'm going to have any dealings with that shower ever again.

Some older games can't activate on Origin. Don't think Dead Space is one of them. Try calling support they may be able to help.
*edit to address above*
All recent EA games will work in Origin, it's just *some* of the older ones which have issues. Call support, don't go to live chat :p

None of my recent EA titles will activate in Origin. They install as stand-alone games just fine, but they just will not activate in that Origin thing.

No you can't its one of the most retarded things about the service. It is likely you will have to have ME3 on Origin but whilst ME2 will activate fine ME1 won't. As you have found DS1 won't activate but DS2 will. So stupid.

Then you must be doing something wrong. As all my recent games have worked :p

Older games won't. But, that's probably because when those games were released, Origin didn't exist.

For some however, if you call support they can fix it ;)

On the topic of Origin, does anyone know if you have to have it installed to the same drive as you want your games to be on (as with Steam)? I've only used it for the BF3 beta so far, presumably it installs games to the same directory it's installed in?

Just sign in and try to redeem the code there. Don't download the EADM.

That website is really really old. but, it allowed me to register C&C 3 to Origin :p

With Origin, it's best to have it on the same drive you want your games to be on. I've read there has been a few issue if you don't.

Origin will be installed to "Origin". I think it also creates an EA CORE folder too.
Games will be found installed the Origin Games folder.

Downloads will be sent to the download cache folder (subfolder inside the main Origin Folder- usually)

You can specify install location for games, and the download location in the settings menu though.

Thanks for that. For the sake of simplicity, I'll just install Origin to my games partition then. :)
