Dead Space 1, Crossfire not working

I am playing Dead space for the first time and enjoying it, but Crossfire isn't working.
I am playing with 8xAA and experiencing no slowdowns, but when I use edge detect AA or jump up to Supersampling AA, the speed drops below 60 (quite a bit below if I use both).

Obviously, I don't need crossfire to work, but I'd like it. So, any ideas how to enable Crossfire?

I read an old tip which suggested renaming the executable to Godfather.exe and tried that, but it didn't work.

Other info: I know crossfire isn't working, because I have msi afterburner showing me the second GPU running at 0% usage, while the first is running at 98%. Crossfire does work in other games.

I had the same issue when I picked up Dead space last week. ATI 5870 CF here. Rename the exe to grid.exe and that should sort your woes. You should also disable the in-game Vsync and force it on on your ATI CP otherwise the mouse control is godawful. Note that for me this doesn't actually enable Vsync, but it prevents a horrible flickering issue I was getting. Also, AA and AF don't work for me at all with this game........*****y console port that it is.

I am using the steam version. If I rename the executable, it starts to load then a steam dialog pops up: "This game is not available"

I have no idea what that guru3d post is telling me to do. I have radeonpro installed - I have AA forced through that. I just can't get crossfire to work.

My post was more of a reply to AeoNGriM, as you'd already said you had AA working.

How are you forcing aa, by using the 'force anti-ailising' menu in the profiles' tweaks tab in RP ?

If you are, then that disables crossfire support afaik.

I take it you've tried forcing the various crossfire profiles available in the tweaks tab as well ?

I have left the AA profile blank on that tweaks page, and have forced AA on the basic tab, with the dropdown "overrides application settings"

I *think* it works - there does seem to be an image improvement, and a frame rate drop.

I haven't tried all of the crossfire profiles. I have tried grid and godfather, and for each one, tried each of the crossfire variants (driver default, AFR, scisser, the other one)
