Hi,

I've been playing Dead Space 1 for a few days now, and I've experienced 3-4 crash to desktops. The error is simply "Dead Space has stopped responding".

The game freezes for one second then closes. After the game has closed, there is a constant humming sound in my headphones, like a repeating sound when the game has frozen. It happens randomly, not in the same point every time. It appears that the only way to get rid of the sound is to reboot.

I've googled without much luck, anyone else experienced the same?

V-Sync is off in both game and Nvidia drivers, that's about all I've changed with the game. It's the STEAM version. My drivers are all up to date, etc.

Spec:

Win7 64bit
i5 760
8GB RAM
GTX 470
ASUS P7P59D-E

In my case it was with Dead Space 2, the noise was a high pitched whine. I don't know if my problem was exactly the same as yours as it did it with another game as well, I can't recall what one off the top of my head. I never got an error message, the pc just locked up. Thankfully, it only happened a couple of times.

Hmm ok, that sounds similar to what I had. I guess I'll hope it doesn't happen again. There doesn't seem to be a solution.

At the time of the problem, I did a brief search and it looked as if it was more of an Nvidia issue than anything else, but like I say, I didn't spend long digging around.

My sound card = Auzentech X-fi Forte.
