Dead Space 2 on STEAM

It's got Solidshield limited activations unfortunately. I won't buy games with limited activations :(

I don`t see the problem with it personally, although would prefer the game without it.

I`m just glad they even bothered making a version for us tough PC crowd ;)

There will be a revoke tool on EA's web site to give back any activations you may have used up, if you can afford more than 5 gaming PC's you can afford more than 1 copy of DS2

It's not installing it on multiple PCs it's the problem - it's the fact that it's having to contact a separate 3rd party activation server to install it. This system has caused problems before with Riddick, with players being unable to activate the game AT ALL, and being given the runaround between Steam, Tages and Atari, all denying responsibility.

Besides, Steam games are supposed to be locked to an account and not a machine. Steam DRM is fine for a game like this, especially as it also has an account lock for multiplayer.

Here's hoping however that they patch it out after a couple of weeks like they did with Bad Company 2.

TBH, Atari is a two-bit company now these days anyway. EA have a very good customer service with regards to DRM (from folks' tales on here) so they'd fix DRM issues for you.

Simple, don't buy the game then. Having used this system for both Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2 is solid and after the first sign in (I just left it to auto log in after that) I can't say I notice it was there at all while playing.

I don't even think its done the Ubisoft thing of making sure the game is always connected.

Granted DRM on top of DRM is a little silly but having two version of the game one retail with the EA account stuff (that's not simply tacted on after all) and Steam version with out it would take to much extra time to make and test of the format with the least sales (saldy).

).

Dragon Age and ME2 don't use that system. They don't have limited activations, just an EA login for DLC, stat tracking and achievements. Retail versions have a very simple disc check as well. Solidshield is a very different, and much more restrictive system.

Then I stand corrected , not very bothered about such activation limit systems never had an issue at all. But my point still stands If you don't like the DRM you don't have to buy it after all.

Really looking forward to this it looks excellent but i dont think ill buy it until ive finished the first one. A task proving difficult considering ive started it about 4 times now on different platforms so dont wanna do the first few levels again lol.
