Does anyone else feel that the controls and camera angle in Dead Space are terrible or is it just me? I tried it with Pad which was just worse and with M&K its not smooth at all, the menu is terrible and the in game menu is worse having to use arrow keys to manoeuvre it. The camera angle when aiming is horrible as well I end up almost going through the guys head and hardly seeing anything sometimes.

Surely I can't be the only one that thinks this.

I find the camera angles alright though not best with Tiny spots or when you manage to corner your self. Try not to back your self up to walls. But yes the controlls on KB+M is horrible really a pad game TBH unless you dont mind stretching the Figures to reach for G

I can live with the camera angles but the controls are really bad, I tried it with the 360 pad and it seemed worse?

edit: Found a fix, if you force on vsync in the Nvidia control panel and triple buffering it feels much better, Keyboard and mouse still isn't great but pad is good maybe a bit over sensitive but I can live with that.

Yeah it's a known issue with the games built in Vsync, it drops the fps to 30 and introduces a metric ton of mouse lag.

Do as you've done and it's much better.

Also the camera view is intentionally obtrusive to limit your field of view so you don't know when things are sneaking up on you ;)

Yeah disable ingame v-sync and the game runs perfect. But I have a bug where a door is open but I can't walk through it lol. Need to restart at some point.

Easy fix to this. Disable v-sync in game and then force it on for that game using the graphics drivers. No tearing, no lag, 60 fps.

Should really make a new thread about this but as we are talking about Dead Space, mine doesn't work.

It starts in 800x600 so I change the res to the usual 1920x1080 and click apply. The screen goes black. The resolution has clearly changed as I can see the windows mouse and it is smaller. The res changes back after a few seconds as the mouse gets bigger but it is still black.

When the screen goes black, have you tried pressing enter? It sounds like a "do you want to use this res" prompt comes up while the screen is black, and then reverts back to the previous resolution because you're not "confirming" it.

You could try and change the config file as well, make sure you can view hidden files as i have a feeling AppData or Local folders are hidden.

Sometimes after saving these files it can help to make them read only so the game can not save back to the file changing your settings.

I pressed enter to confirm the change and it doesn't revert back to 8800x600 but it is still completely black.

The fact that you can see the windows cursor is annoying especially as the game has its own cursor which moves at a different rate than normal.

[EDIT] Thanks a lot Voorhees, that has worked. The windows cursor is always visible though still which is annoying.

Glad it worked m8, not seen the mouse cursor problem with dead space. Have you tried to alt-tab out and back in a couple of times? Or maybe alt-enter?

I hated the camera angles and the way it played which ruined the game for me, also tried the second one which was the same. It wasnt on my PC long.

This was my biggest regret from the Steam Xmas sales. The FOV is so zoomed in it gives me a headache. Feels like I need to sit 5 metres away from the screen.

If you referring to Dead Space 1.. yes, it is terrible. I couldn't get the mouse to behave how i wanted either, i tried everything. Ended up just playing it on a pad. Dead Space 2 don't have this problem, it works well.. even with a keyboard and mouse.

Regarding the FOV, it's supposed to be like that, it creates a sense of claustrophobia. I personally liked it.
