Hi all,

Installed this today and it's running fine, however the mouse control feels really weird. No really sure how to describe it but for some reason i've turned the sensitivity up max and i'm using a MX518 which is also at max DPI and the movement feels sluggish. Is this the game or have I configured something wrong?

As above, turn off vsync. This will add roughly two frames of input lag to whatever your screen has at default. At 60fps this will be an additional 33ms - more than enough to make your mouse control feel sluggish. At lower framerates the lag will be significantly higher (~66ms at 30fps etc)

turn off vsync in game (this limits it to 30 not 60 fps on this particluar game iirc) but then force vsync on using the drivers and it runs perfectly in both image and mouse.:)

I read it was something to do with it being a console port? Something to do with the mouse in this game just mimicking the 360 pad's analogue movement, or is that a load of rubbish as I suspect?

Maybe it uses triple buffering or some other trick. It really isn't that important because forcing vsync on using the drivers fixes it including the mouse.

Yep, as above, I had the same issue and thought "what the hell?". Vsync off in-game but on in drivers sorted it for me.

It feels "floaty" otherwise, like trying to aim while drunk or something.

Got bored with this game after 20 mins or so btw... bleh!

Thanks for the replies. I've turned v-sync off already, what are these drivers you're taking about though?

Everything is maxed out and turned on effects wise, just v-sync is turned off.

Thanks.

Shame mate was a very enjoyable game :)

yep, its V-Sync and just bad port-ness.

You get used t how the game plays if you play it enough and nothing else :p

You can also edit the config file (it's in text format) and change the mouse speed above what you can set it in the menus.

One of the most annoying design choices about the game for me was you couldn't re-bind all the keys, including the arrow keys. There is a site with modified control configs that allow you to use the arrow keys, but it's throwing up some errors in NoScript, so possibly it's been hacked since the last time I used it.

If you're using an Nvidia card, you need to ENABLE VSync in the nvidia control panel, but DISABLE it in the Dead Space game menu:

--> Go to your nVidia control panel.
--> Click 'Manage 3D settings' (if you are unable to see it, make sure you are in Advanced Settings mode as it is filtered out in Standard Settings mode).
--> Click the Program Settings tab and select the approriate program in the drop-list (if it's not there, click Add and browse to the Dead Space .exe file).
--> In the settings-list below; look for "Triple buffering" and change its value to 'On', then look for "Vertical sync" and change it to 'Force on'.

For me, V-Sync on had lag but without it my mouse barely moved at all.
Tried a tonne of stuff with no avail...

Somehow i finished the game with it on :p
Amazing game tho.

It's to do with the two v-sync options, in-game and on the driver control panel.

One needs to be on the other off, just google it as I can't remember which way around :p
