Well when I went to bed last night around 23:00 the core switch on my home lan was working but at 06:00 this morning I couldn't get to my file server from another machine on the network.
Looking at it the whole thing looks to be dead, no lights at all. Its plugged into a 6x belkin surge protector gang and other things on that are ok.
Didn't have much time for investigation this morning before leaving for work but I was wondering if anyone else had had issues with switches just dying. The switch is a Netgear 8-port gigabit jobby, (the small blue metal type (GS108) instead of the white plastic ones), and there would have been little/no traffic going through it at the time.
