One of my VM's has died, It won't boot. I've had to delete it and start afresh.
That's another 16 hours crunching lost:grr:

I messed around with running two clients per VM, I have two VM's on a Q6600, and had loads of crashes and reboots so that may have killed it. I'm no VM/Ubuntu guru, I just followed Mr sirius's instructions! I went back to one client per VM and everyting was fine for a few days then one locked up and didn't reboot.

Crashes and reboots will do it. I've had one VM commit suicide because of that. I now have a pre-configured backup VM for that very reason (though of course that doesn't help with the lost WU).

sorry to here that D, hope all is well now (cob looked like he had problems to - two days at zero production)

Yip. Both my VM's decided that they wouldn't do any networking after I reinstalled Vista on Friday night. They wouldn't access the net and Samba wouldn't work either. So no way to upload three finished WU's or transfer my foldingathome folder elsewhere.

But that's pretty much the only problem I've had.

That's caused by the network adapter getting moved to eth1 instead of eth0. Start the VM, edit /etc/iftab and remove the line for eth0 (or any other network adapter that's there), reboot.

It's still not up and running. The new VM is working, all the updates are done, ia32 lib installed, Client sitting in a new folder with mpiexec and core a1. I ran -configonly OK but it fails to crunch :(

I nuked the VM, downloaded a fresh Fiesty Fawn ISO, made another new VM, loaded everything back up and it's working.... Phew!
So I now have one fresh Feisty Fawn VM and my old Dapper Drake that hasn't missed a beat through all the mayhem! Sometimes computers really wind me up :(
