Hey all, just screwed up an overclock(!) and now Windows says no audio hardware detected! I'm using an X-Fi Extreme Gamer and Vista Ultimate 32. I reset the BIOS and then the usual stuff came up about booting into last kown good configuration, and it all works, except for my sound. I've tried reseating the card to no avail. What can be done? Should I just RMA it?

No. It is a Timing error inherant in windows i am afraid. Is it the PCI or PCI-E version? The difference between the speed of the slot will also make a difference. A bit like PCI-E *16 or *8 as an example.
On PCI since windows 95 the os has always had resource and I/O conflicts on PCI cards. Of late though The soundblaster range has always hit the resource conflict range. Once installed it doesn't like to be realocated resources for its use so the O/S denounces it because it doesn't want to know. Creative have been notorious for IRQ conflicts and do not like to share. They prefer to be System Exclusive.
